Dance Lab 2016 A dance theatre intensive which introduces dancers, choreographers and movement based artists to the methods, techniques and training used by Blink to create material for performance. Selected participants will meet weekly for a 90 minute contemporary dance session led by Artistic Director, Lyndel Quick. The Wintergarden in Geelong is a beautifully restored, historic bluestone building and home to numerous businesses including the studio of talented local Artist Jill Shalless. Blink Dance Theatre was fortunate to have Jill as Artist in Residence during the creative development of last years premiere performance The Red Tree. Our studio practise for the last couple of weeks has focused on Contact Improvisation. The team have been working with a wonderful guest artist David Corbet; falling, flying, catching, leading, following, lifting and finding rolling points of contact whilst building trust between our new ensemble. Reduced to its simplest form, Contact Improvisation is an improvised movement encounter between two or more people.
